For the main centre light I've used a 3x SMD Festoon C5W 44mm unit. And for the two reading lights I've used 4x SMD W5W Sidelights.
Light output is massively improved. Nice and white, very bright, and an inexpensive upgrade.

Micro Mods - an update
Finally it's warm enough to do something outside without losing the feeling in your finger ends. Ideal for changing the bulbs in the new cab light:
